Sâuçá Concept Hits DC Streets Late January / Full Media Dispatch

Butter Chicken sauca

Butter Chicken sâuçá

[Washington, DC – December 2, 2009]  What do you get when you cross an international businessman and world traveler with a high-tech kitchen on wheels, and a menu of foods from around the globe?  The answer is Sâuçá; the most sophisticated mobile restaurant concept ever developed, on target to start navigating Washington, DC streets and feeding hungry patrons in the New Year.

Sâuçá (www.eatsauca.com) is more than a mobile restaurant – it’s a unique new global lifestyle brand that combines great food, travel, music, design, technology and fun.  Created and run by Washington, DC resident Farhad Assari, now the official ‘Ambasador’ of the Republic of Sâuçá, his new concept is about enjoying delicious, healthy, global foods in new and exciting ways – served from a high-tech vehicle loaded with Wi-Fi, a LCD flat screen, a sound system, and even a pay phone to make international calls with Sâuçá tokens.

Assari has taken his own travel and ‘no reservations’ food experiences from around the world and raised street food to the next level, with a globally inspired menu that will travel across DC. “The Sâuçá brand is more than just serving amazing food from the Sâuçámobile, it’s about interacting on many levels with our guests,” says Assari. “We’ll connect to them directly on the street with our uniquely designed and graphically enhanced vehicle, but we’ll also connect to them virtually, through the technology, such as the web site, our FaceBook, Twitter and Yelp pages, through mobile phones and through our virtual video and audio feeds streaming from www.eatSauca.com. This is the ultimate example of social media anytime, anywhere!”

Washingtonian Says DC is Hungry for Great Street Food

However you categorize it – street food, food trucks, street carts, or in our case, a mobile restaurant – the trend is heading to DC and there are LOTS of folks that are eager to see more, so says Todd Kliman, the food critic of Washingtonian magazine. We were so pleased to read this tidbit from his online chat on December 8th, we just had to share it!

Washington, DC: I was just in NYC, and they have food trucks roaming the city for just about every food (the waffles were my favourite but they also have a coffee truck, cupcakes, Korean BBQ.) Now DC has a few food trucks as well… what do you think of the trend? Think it will hit DC harder? Die down? What kind of food truck would you like to see?

Todd Kliman:

What do I think of the trend? I love it. In fact, I think it’s one of the most important developments in food in the city in the past five years.

I would like to see more carts, more trucks, more variety, and even more energy.

This is part of having a real cultural life in the city. Along with street musicians. Along with public art. Along with architecture that inspires.

We have pockets of eclecticism, and I would like to see more. And we have street carts, now, but can have so many more. It’d be great to have more public art, and more interesting architecture, but the real city is never going to triumph over the federal city.

Well, we love it, too Todd! We hope there are many more folks out there that are thinking along the same lines as Todd, because we are gearing up to bring something very unique and delicious to DC streets in the New Year – Sauca is coming!

What is Sâuçá? Global Gourmet Food & So Much More!

A very good question…

Sâuçá is DC’s most unique new concept to hit the streets – it’s literally a mobile restaurant and a lifestyle that embraces different cultures through food, music, art, events and people.   International businessman, traveler, explorer and foodie Farhad Assari has taken street food to a new level.  This very atypical restaurateur was inspired by the side street vendors in India, the old school food trucks in California, the railroad station vendors in Europe and the taquierias of South America, to create a new way to enjoy foods from around the world, with the convenience and fun of a serious kitchen on wheels.  The result is a great global gourmet experience with no reservations and no travel time!  (more…)
